In July, we welcomed the NSW Government’s strong support for all 13 recommendations from the Inquiry into Beneficial and Productive Post-Mining Land Use.
This commitment is a vital step toward ensuring the Hunter and other coal-producing regions have a clear pathway to economic transition and future growth. However, we identified that our communities cannot afford to wait for action.
Our priorities for urgent implementation include:
- Review and reform of post-mining regulatory legislation
- Annual land audits of all industrial mining lands and assets across the Hunter region
- Master planning for strategic sites
- Regional engagement and skills mapping
- Investment in pilot projects and job-creating industries
We look forward to working with the NSW Government to transform former mining lands into thriving hubs for clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and long-term prosperity.
