Annual Local Government NSW Conference

  • December 11, 2025

In November we attended the Local Government New South Wales (LGNSW) Annual Conference 2025 in Sydney along with Mayors and Councillors from across our Member Councils. LGNSW is the peak advocacy body representing councils across NSW, and their annual conference provides an opportunity for Councils to come together to share ideas and debate issues that shape the way LGNSW is governed and advocates on behalf of local communities right across NSW.

Our Member Councils submitted seven regional motions that were all endorsed at the conference, reflecting our shared priorities and challenges for the Hunter region. These focused on:

  •         Local funding for post mining land use planning
  •         Local delivery of skills transition programs
  •         Place planning for industrial employment lands
  •         Local presence and coordination of Government agencies within regions affected by the economic transformation
  •         Enabling infrastructure for housing
  •         Re-categorisation of roads
  •         Betterment funding for assets vulnerable to natural disasters

Thank you to our Member Councils for getting behind these regional motions and to LGNSW for hosting this year’s conference. Working together in this way is integral to ensuring the voice of Llocal Government is heard at all levels of government, and to supporting us as a Joint Organisation to meet our principal functions of Strategic Planning and Priority Setting, Regional Leadership and Advocacy, and Intergovernmental Collaboration.
