It was great for our Board of Mayors and General Managers to come together in Singleton for their August meeting.

As our region experiences rapid growth and economic shift, joint advocacy and strategic alignment are essential. Today’s meeting covered key priorities for our region, including:

🏛️ State & Federal Advocacy Planning | Mayors and General Managers discussed strategic approaches for upcoming visits to NSW Parliament House delegation days in October, as well as key federal priorities for 2027 visits to Parliament House in Canberra.

🗺️ Plan Hunter Alignment | Guest speaker Alice Thompson, Committee for Hunter, presented on Plan Hunter, leading an informative session on how the Hunter can align priorities, sequence investment, and navigate major economic shifts together.

♻️ LGNSW Conference Regional Motions | The board took the opportunity to review the proposed Local Government NSW regional motions that address key policy gaps and align our shared advocacy priorities.

✈️ Singapore Trade Mission Insights | Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson shared an overview of the activities and opportunities that arose during her March and June delegations to Singapore, including on the inaugural flight from Newcastle Airport.

🏥 Regional Health | Upper Hunter Mayor Maurice Collison shared the health challenges in regional areas and advocacy opportunities.
