Thank you to the Banksia Awards for hosting the December award ceremony, which celebrated individuals, organisations and initiatives that make a profound difference in Australia’s sustainability landscape. We were proud to attend as a finalist in the 2025 NSW Sustainability Awards in the Net Zero Action Award category.
Our nomination recognised the Powering Tomorrow: Regional Councils NSW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), a renewable electricity initiative co-led by ourselves and the Mid North Coast Joint Organisation (MNCJO).
Through this collaboration, 13 regional NSW councils came together to secure over 390 GWh of electricity through to 2030, with approximately 83% sourced from renewable energy projects across regional NSW. This initiative avoids more than 185,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and delivers collective savings of $5.2 million, helping councils decarbonise operations, strengthen financial resilience, and achieve Net Zero targets.
The Power Purchase Agreement demonstrated the power of regional collaboration in delivering real benefits for local councils. As finalists in the Net Zero Action Award, we were proud to represent the strength of regional NSW leadership on the path to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
