One region. Ten councils. One united voice.
With the 2027 NSW Election fast approaching, Mayors and General Managers from across the Hunter will return to NSW Parliament House in October, taking a united regional voice directly to Ministers, Shadow Ministers and Members of Parliament.
As the Hunter continues to grow and evolve, our communities are facing both significant opportunities and complex challenges. From creating future jobs and unlocking housing supply to improving critical infrastructure and strengthening local government, councils are working together to ensure the Hunter remains a great place to live, work and invest.
Led by Sue Moore, Chair of the Hunter Joint Organisation and Mayor of Singleton Council, and Leah Anderson, Deputy Chair and Mayor of Port Stephens Council, the delegation will advocate for practical solutions across four key priority areas:
✅ Economic Transformation and Jobs
✅ Housing
✅ Roads
✅ Financial Sustainability of Local Government
Mayor Sue Moore said the region’s priorities deserve a prominent place in discussions leading up to the next State Election.
“The Hunter has powered the NSW economy for generations and will continue to play a critical role in the state’s future.”
“Our councils are united in advocating for practical solutions that will help create jobs, support growing communities, improve infrastructure and build a stronger future for the Hunter.”
“With the election on the horizon, now is the time to ensure the opportunities and challenges facing the Hunter are front and centre in conversations about the future of NSW.”
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about the key priorities we’ll be taking to Parliament House and why they matter to our communities.
Together, we’re advocating for a stronger, more resilient and more prosperous Hunter.
