We are very excited to share that we have recently updated our ‘Beat the Heat’ Communications Support Package to assist councils when communicating to their communities about the impacts of heatwaves.

This package has been developed based on the most current NSW Health Beat the Heat resources and aim to avoid duplication of effort and miscommunication. This is achieved through providing consistent and repeated messages across different platforms.

The communication resources have been developed in the region, adapting existing messages into various formats to engage at-risk communities and address key issues and impacts. These include medication impacts, rural and isolated communities, the elderly, people with a disability, and families with young children.

Councils are able to use all of these resources for communicating with their communities, delivering consistent messaging across our regions. Included in the package are key messages, email alerts, newsletter content, SMS / text alerts, social media posts, and website content that is all customisable to assist councils when developing communication materials. There are also examples of social media posts, and designed posters that can be used by councils, organisations, and community.

Beyond just councils, these materials can also be shared and used by community organisations, businesses, and members of the public, helping to keep our communities safe during the heat. If you would like to download a copy of our Beat the Heat resources, check out the package today!
