Team Global Express Electric Truck Facility Site Visit

  • December 11, 2025

In November we were fortunate to take members of the Hunter Net Zero Network to tour the Team Global Express electric truck facility, known as the ‘Depot of the Future’. The site is home of Australia’s largest logistics electric vehicle fleet trial. Located in Bungarribee (Eastern Creek), the ground-breaking trial is being carried out in partnership with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) with Team Global Express replacing a third of its Western Sydney fleet with a total of 60 trucks.

Summer Steward, Team Global Express Sustainability Project Manager, hosted representatives from seven or our Member Councils, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and the broader Joint Organisation Net Zero Acceleration (JONZA) network, to provide an inside look at the site including infrastructure design, site logistics, truck and battery variations and site management systems to see how they are reducing their emissions towards net zero.

Key themes from the day included:

  • Collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is essential to project success
  • Importance of easy wins by starting small
  • Planning design that considers safety, ease of use and future compliance with room to grow
  • Considering impacts to people, business and stakeholders and development of contingency plans

The site tour was impactful and made possible by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCEEW) funding of the Joint Organisation Net Zero Acceleration (JONZA) program.
