Water is critical to life. An excellent topic of discussion at last night Committee for Hunter’s Water in the Hunter event, proudly sponsored by GHD. Committee for Hunter continues to play an important leadership role in our region by bringing together government, industry and the community for meaningful conversations on the issues that matter most to the Hunter’s future.

Water is far more than an essential service; it’s an enabler of healthy communities, economic growth and future prosperity. It is also one of the Hunter Joint Organisation’s shared advocacy priorities, recognising that ensuring essential water for life is fundamental to the wellbeing, resilience and prosperity of our communities.

Thank you to Jennifer Hayes, CEO of Hunter Water, and Greg McDonald, General Manager of Upper Hunter Shire Council, for sharing their perspectives on the complexities and enablers of managing water in a changing climate while balancing affordability for communities. Their insights highlighted the difficult decisions facing water providers and councils as they plan for future demand, resilience and sustainability.

It was also valuable to hear from GHD and Conexa about the innovation and expertise supporting the water sector, from strategic planning and infrastructure delivery through to practical solutions, including recycled water projects, that are helping communities make the most of this precious resource.
