2022 Regional Waste Conference

  • June 2, 2022

In May, the Hunter JO Waste and Circular Economy team attended the 2022 Regional Waste Conference in Coffs Harbour. This conference is the leading conference for the waste management industry in Australia and features leading waste management professionals.

Attended by 600+ delegates from across Australia, it was a fantastic opportunity for the Hunter JO to be able to represent the Hunter region and the work of our ten Member Councils. Our Regional Policy and Programs Coordinator (Waste and Circular Economy), Eloise Lobsey, spoke at the conference about our Circular Procurement project which aims to embed circular economy into procurement practices, starting with a focus on recycled products and materials.

This project has mobilised a group of champions across key councils to support the project while building their own capabilities and networks. The outcomes of this project will be a circular procurement framework, an evaluation tool providing evidence for purchasing decisions, and a roadmap to train and upskill council staff.

Access the full presentation the Hunter JO made at the conference HERE. Head to our Circular Economy project page for more information on the Hunter JO’s work in this space.
