The Hunter JO and Port Stephens Council teamed up to deliver an online regional planning industry workshop on 10th September 2021, attracting nearly 50 participants from across Councils, State Government Agencies and private sector planning and development industry representatives.
This was in response to the recent development of the NSW Regional Housing Taskforce to explore relevant opportunities for the region including addressing key barriers to the delivery of housing affordability and diversity in the Hunter.
The workshop:
- Provided insights on the significant reform processes around local rezoning and placemaking processes implemented by Port Stephens Council, and their impact to date
- Identified lessons arising from the reform process and potential opportunities for broader application in the Hunter region
- Facilitated feedback and queries from council, agency and planning industry representatives
This workshop was delivered to facilitate information sharing and collaboration around key rezoning reforms that Port Stephens council has been implementing, notably relating to housing supply and infrastructure development.
