We recently attended the Hunter Supply Chain Forum to learn more about the Federal Government’s ‘Future Made in Australia’ Capacity Investment Scheme, a package valued at $22B to stimulate sovereign manufacturing. This presents a great opportunity for providing local jobs in our region and limiting the impacts of global supply chain disruptions on our businesses and communities.
Federal Assistant Minister for Trade and a Future Made in Australia, the Hon Tim Ayres was joined by Member for Shortland and Minister for International Development, and Pacific and Minister Defence Industry and Capability Delivery the Hon Pat Conroy MP and Federal member for Newcastle Sharon Claydon MP, along with support from our State member for Newcastle, Mr Tim Crakanthorp MP, and Newcastle’s local government representatives Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes and Deputy Mayor, Declan Clausen.
This tripartisan collaboration across all levels of government will be central to maximising the economic and industrial benefits of the move to net zero and securing Australia’s and the Hunter’s place in a changing global economic and strategic landscape.
