In July, the Hunter JO held the second Hunter JO strategy workshop with the Mayors and General Managers from our Member Councils, to work together on developing the new Hunter JO Strategic Plan.
It was a great opportunity for our local government leaders from across the region to share experiences, challenges, and ideas. The first day of the workshop focused on presentations from each Council on the key priorities for their LGA, with common themes including economic development, affordable housing, roads and connectivity, tourism, and disaster resilience.
The workshop then revisited draft strategic priority themes that were determined during the last strategic workshop in May 2021, of connectivity, jobs and a growing economy, liveability, and resilience, and saw how these themes strongly align with the latest Member Council Community Strategic Plans (CSPs) and relevant State and Regional Strategies.
We completed the workshop with an open discussion on key points to consider as part of the new Hunter JO Strategic Plan, and what the Hunter JO’s role should be moving forward. The outcomes from this Strategy Workshop will be compiled and distributed to Councils in the coming weeks, and the new Hunter JO Strategic Plan will be complete in late 2022.
