Green Caffeen UPDATE

  • November 26, 2021

Since launching in the Hunter region in March 2021, 89 cafes across nine council areas have signed up to the Green Caffeen Reusable Coffee Cup Scheme. With 1813 customers across the region, 26,279 coffee cups have been diverted from landfill within the first 8 months of the Hunter’s involvement in this initiative.

The councils currently involved in Green Caffeen include:

  1. Central Coast Council
  2. Cessnock City Council
  3. Dungog Shire Council
  4. Lake Macquarie City Council
  5. Maitland City Council
  6. Muswellbrook Shire Council
  7. Port Stephens Council
  8. Singleton Council
  9. Upper Hunter Shire Council

The easing of restrictions presents a great opportunity for councils to start reminding their local cafes about this circular economy initiative. The Green Caffeen ‘Swap and Go’ Reusable Coffee Cup Scheme is easy for cafes and customers to use and presents people with an easy and affordable alternative to single use takeaway cups.
