Don't be in the dark. Know what to do.

  • March 4, 2025

It’s been a tough summer and unfortunately many people have experienced extreme weather events. While your power company will be working hard to get the lights back on, every Australian should have a power outage plan.

In that unplanned moment, it’s up to you to know what to do.
That’s why we’re asking you to:

CHECK. PLAN. DO.

The Energy Charter have worked with councils, the community and energy industry to create a simple guide to help all Australians prepare for unexpected power outages, at www.poweroutageplan.com.au. The site is still in a testing phase however we want to encourage as many people as possible to use the site and provide feedback so it can be refined ahead of the full national launch in April 2025. The site will be developed in languages other than English, as well as Easy Read and Auslan resources and First Nations designs.

We can help all Australians become energy resilient by encouraging everyone to make a power outage plan.

Being prepared for a power outage can help to keep you and your family safe.

Visit www.poweroutageplan.com.au to make your plan today.
