Circular Economy Strategic Roadmap Workshop – Round 2

During April we delivered a Circular Economy Strategic Roadmap Workshop. Funded through the Better Waste Recycling Program, the workshop attracted 40 plus leaders from industry, academia, government and not for profit organisations, who worked together to define the Circular Economy Strategic Roadmap for the Hunter and Central Coast Region. Participants collaborated to develop a vision, focus areas and action plans for the Strategic Roadmap, with fantastic initiatives being identified to support the local economy, create jobs, reuse resources and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The workshop was facilitated by Edge Environment, with Cr Kay Fraser, Chair of the Hunter JO’s Circular Economy SubCommittee and Mayor of Lake Macquarie City Council opening the event, and speaking to Lake Macquarie City Council’s recent adoption of their Circular Economy Policy.

Lisa McLean, NSW Circular representative, and Paul Klymenko, CEO of Planet Ark, provided overviews of the circular economy from a State and Federal perspective and Debbie O’Byrne, MBA, joined the panel with Lisa and Paul to discuss Circular Economy in the Hunter and Central Coast region.

Information from the workshop will now be gathered and reported back to the wider Circular Economy network within our region; to gather feedback and finalise the Circular Economy Strategic Roadmap for the Hunter and Central Coast.
